CWRU ECS had its first event on September 14th, 2016. Dr. J. Thomas Mortimer, Professor Emeritus of Biomedical Engineering of Case Western Reserve University, graciously presented “Electron transfer processes occurring on platinum neural stimulating electrodes”. He states that ‘Most of the folks who work on neuralprostheses are spooked by chemistry and therefor ignore the electron transfer processes occurring on neural stimulating elec-trodes. Paying attention to these processes (with the help from my mentor, Professor Scherson) may permit more charge to be safely injected than is now permitted.’ You may find more information about neural prosthesis at http://www.blue-robot.com/ANC/ANC-module1/.
