- Recap of Graduate Student Senate (GSS) Meetings
- New award ($1000) for graduate students who have done community service, more details will be coming soon
- Graduate Student Tech Fee ($425 per student per year) will be implemented Fall ’07
- GSS has been trying to fight this, but it will happen
- now trying to find the best way (that will impact students the least) in implement this fee
- GSS is trying to talk to deans of colleges (supplemental support)
- talk to deans of departments
- PGSA will talk to our department – inform them that this is happening
- Graduate Student Fellowship courses should be offered beginning Fall ’07
- opprotunity to take up to 8 courses outside major for no fee
- these courses would be graded, but not calculated into GPA
- The Cleveland Playhouse sells discounted tickets to Case students for $15 (code CWR1)

- Kelvin Smith Library 10th Anniversity Events – Fri. October 13th 11:30 – 3:00 (free food, prizes, etc)
- Homecoming weekend – October 14-15th

- Jorge Cham (PhD comics) will be presenting at Schmitt Auditorium – Wed. October 25th 5:00
- Halloween at the Farm – Sat. October 28th
- Grad Night Out at Jillians – Fri. November 17th (free food, pool, & ping pong – plus if you bring in two (four) canned goods, get 1 (2) free drink ticket)
- Next GSS Meeting November 2nd 12:00 – 1:00, Thwing Center, Spartan room
- First Year Graduate Student Representative – Sean Bryan
- Participation in pumpkin drop
- Physics department is not planning on doing their annual pumpkin drop
- PGSA and PAC are trying to get support from GSS and USG so that we can hold this activity
- If we get funding, it would be held Monday, October 30th at 12:20

- Monday, October 30th, 5PM – Miller Room – Gender and Professional careers: How to get ahead and still be yourself
- Monday, November 13th, 5PM – Miller Room – A macro look at gender: In academia and Beyond. What is a graduate student to do? Personal responsibility and the student role.
