Melody Maxson

A third year graduate student working for Dr. Kash’s group, Melody studies the characteristics and growth processes of a class of semiconductors called the heterovalent ternary nitrides. She enjoys a varied exercise routine, painting, reading steampunk romance novels, and saying “hi” to every dog she meets. Her cat, Molly, is gracious enough to let her sleep in Molly’s apartment, provided she continues to pay rent.

Churna Bhandari

Churna is a 5th year graduate student working in Condensed matter Physics theory Electronic Structure Group with Prof. Walter Lambrecht. His primary research interest is on 2D materials and currently working on V2O5 using quasi-particle GW method and beyond. In addition, Churna also loves teaching physics classes for undergraduate. He likes playing outdoor games like tennis, volleyball, TT and badminton.

Tate Deskins

Tate is a 3rd year graduate student in the Particle-Astro Theory group working with Professor Andrew Tolley. Currently he is working on high resolution latice simulations of non-linear systesm (Galileon theories primarily). Tate also enjoys cooking, eating, ultimate (frisbee), reading (sci-fi and fantasy in particular), and playing the cello.

Rob Halliday

Rob Halliday hails from the the suburbs of Champagne, where he has lived all of his life. His interest in the sciences was kindled at an early age, when, like most every young child, he longed to become an astronaut. Although this specific dream has yet to come true, he is a master of Kerbel. Beyond Kerbal Rob likes many things, but his some of his more dedicated interests include the Manyworlds Interpretation, Italian spices, and Planking. He is also a huge fan of Thomas Pynchon, Eliezer Yudkowsky, and Tim Rogers. Rob is a third year graduate student working under Corbin Covault in the Auger Collaboration.

Mike McMaster

Michael McMaster is a second year physics student working in on Organic Photostatics and NonLinear Optics under Dr. Ken Singer. He spends a majority of his free time reading comics, playing board games, and throwing discs. You can usually find him in the basement of the physics department listening to music too loudly.

First Year Representative

Allen Foster

Allen is a first year grad student coming with a physics degree from Penn State. Most recently Allen has worked in collaboration with the Pierre Auger Observatory and Astrophysical Multimessenger Observatory Network in hopes of finding sources of ultra-high energy cosmic rays. In his spare time he enjoys wondering what people do with spare time, and when he isn’t doing that, he’s most likely out running or playing for the CWRU club hockey team.
